Sunday 8 March was International's Womens Day and as a female artist I would love for more women to enter the Archibald Prize. Since established in 1921 The Archibald Prize has selected only 10 female winners over 99 years and I would love for that to change.
The Professional Development Grant was proudly sponsored by the Northern Territory Government. I was very lucky to be able to experience this wonderful Traditional Oil Painting Class at the National Art School in Sydney in May. The teacher was extremely well prepared and gave detailed feedback to all students, propelling them from strength to strength in only a short time. I learnt new techniques and a much deeper understanding of traditional oil paints including their properties and limitations. Preparation of the canvas, by creating a tick smooth surface to begin with was a wonderful surprise, making detail on your artwork much easier to achieve. This was an experience I will never forget.
The Life Drawing class took place on Wednesday 12 December 2018. With Christmas carols blaring everyone had a wonderful time drawing from life with our subject matter being a male model named Matt. It was a fantastic way to finish the Year with food, drink and something special to remember.
